Disability: establishment and pre-orientation service (ESPO)

The establishment and pre-orientation service (ESPO) accompanies persons with disabilities to define their career orientation through internships or training. You need to be at least 16 years old to be part of an ESPO. During your admission to ESPO, you benefit from certain rights (remuneration, social protection...).

ESPO advises and accompanies you to assess your abilities and define a business project in particular through courses or training.

You also receive medical, psycho-social support adapted to your disability.

ESPO support is provided by a multidisciplinary team comprising or associating one or more of the following professionals:

  • Guidance, integration and training professional
  • Doctor
  • Psychologist
  • Ergonome
  • Medical assistant
  • Social worker

The ESPO can offer accommodation and catering services tailored to your needs.

You can embed an ESPO if you fill out one of the following conditions :

  • You're a job seeker
  • Or you are an employee or public servant or self-employed, and plan to train to change trades

In addition, you must complete the 2 following conditions :

You should normally address your request to the Departmental Disability Center (DDPH) in your place of residence.

The request can be made online through an online service, if the MDPH: titleContent of your place of residence offers it:

Application for MDPH benefits (AAH, PCH ...) and renewal

You can also apply by post through a form:

Application or renewal of disability benefits (AAH, PCH, CMI, accommodation ...)

You must contact supporting documents mentioned in connection with your online application or on the form.

Documents must be sent (or scanned if you apply online) to the MDPH: titleContent of your place of residence.

Who shall I contact

The CDAPH: titleContent then meets to consider your application for admission to ESPO

The reply is usually given within 4 months of the date of submission of the application.

If no response is received after 4 months, your application for admission is considered rejected.

But the direction of the CDAPH is not always mandatory. For example, you can be offered to an ESPO by your adviser Cap emploi, France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi) or the local mission if you are a job seeker.

The ESPO may be self-contained or attached to a health facility or service or vocational rehabilitation facility.

The support can be provided at the premises of the ESPO or at the place where you take training or practice your professional activity or any place useful for the implementation of your project.

Admission shall be for a maximum total period of 14 weeks over a 24-month period.

Derogations from this limit may be granted by decision of the CDAPH in particular if your health condition requires an adjustment of the support services or its temporary suspension.

During your admission to ESPO, you have the status of trainee of vocational training. You are also a user of a medico-social structure.

The cost of all the services (accompaniment, training, accommodation, catering, transport at the beginning and end of the course...) is covered by the Health Insurance.

You are also entitled to remuneration and social protection. The remuneration is between €712.4 and €2,009.82 net per month.

At the end of your admission, ESPO sends a report to the CDAPH. This report details your professional project and your abilities to exercise or learn a trade. The report also makes recommendations on the implementation of your journey.
