Guided tours, unpublished tours, outdoor activities, live shows, music, culinary art... On Saturday 17 May, until midnight, museums open their doors free of charge throughout France and Europe to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

The European Night of Museums is part of the Ministry of Culture’s mission to democratize access to culture and make the wealth and diversity of museum works accessible to all.

Again this year, as part of Operation "The Class, the Work!", classes from kindergarten to high school will present their work around a work or object preserved in the collections of the museums participating in the operation. In partnership with the Ministry of National Education, the program enables students to become cultural mediators overnight and to share the year-round artistic work with their teachers.

How to find the event you are interested in?

The website of the European Night of Museums offers you a map to discover the program of the event in your city, your department, your region. The 2025 edition will offer, for example, an immersion in Brazilian cultures with percussion, samba and baile funk workshops led by Brazilian artists in Deauville, a visit to the Léonce Petit exhibition in Dinan or a guided walk around the Parc Monceau in Paris.

Reminder

This event has been organized by the Ministry of Culture since 2005, in liaison with the Regional Directions of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) to give a different experience to the museum. It benefits from the patronage of Unesco, the Council of Europe and ICOM (International Council of Museums) and numerous institutional and media partnerships.
